Chunk of Westside Trail Beltline Property Suddenly Up for Redevelopment

February 22 < 1

A sizable piece of southwest Atlanta property abutting the Westside Trail has (somewhat) unexpectedly come up for grabs, and its owner is issuing a call for imaginative redevelopment.

In question is seven acres with a 55,000-square-foot facility currently occupied by trailer company Great Dane, which isn’t the most exciting use.

It’s a Frisbee’s toss down the Westside Trail from where Dallas-based Stream Realty Partners is building an adaptive-reuse project called Lee+White (to be anchored by Monday Night Brewing) and a pilot urban farm initiative.

Property owner Tyler Edgarton tells Curbed Atlanta that Great Dane surprisingly exercised a termination clause in their lease agreement last week to move to a larger site intown.

“This puts the Great Dane facility in play a few years earlier than expected,” said Edgarton. “[But] we are definitely not selling it.”

Instead, owners will look for a new tenant or will build-to-suit for someone “who sees the vision of the Westside Beltline,” he said.

Edgarton stressed the site’s proximity to other Beltline projects (highlighted above in yellow) and its quick access to Interstate 75 via University Avenue.

Any suggestions for what might work better here than parked trailers?
