Leader of Industrial Property Management and Partner Victoria Knudson sat down with Associate Paige Korte for a 30-minute chat about how to seek a mentor, where to find one, what a mentee should bring to the table, and how Victoria, passionately referred to as VK around our company, got started in CRE–years before Paige was even born, she jokes.
During the open dialogue, Victoria discusses what it was like as employee #1 in Chicago and how starting a new Stream office in a new market was exciting. She shares a story about her first industrial property management role that involved her now mentor, a Kmart store, and a ladder. And she uses one of the best pieces of advice she got about CRE–“don’t try to be one of the boys because you’re not”–as a mantra to pass down to others as she mentors some of Stream’s young women professionals.
