After Hours Podcast: Corporate Accounting Vice Presidents Share Misconceptions About Their CRE Roles

Dallas, National
June 30 < 1

It’s a small world in the real estate industry. When Kellie Drayovitch asked Gwen Hughes to sit down with her for this latest episode of “After Hours,” the two quickly remembered that they had crossed paths in past roles. Gwen was working in multi-family, and Kellie was at another North Texas real estate development company. Gwen also served as an interviewer when Kellie applied for an accounting role at Stream.

Those previous interactions led the Vice Presidents of Corporate Accounting to talk about how important it is to build and foster relationships before revealing their secrets for creating community at work. Gwen points out that internal customers sometimes come to her thinking they know what they want but then realize they need something different to solve their challenge. Sometimes, she notes, it’s not as easy as pushing a button and waiting on a number to come out. That’s one of the several misconceptions the two share about their accounting roles and who accountants really are behind their bios. The 30-minute conversation includes advice for someone starting an accounting career and hope for a future that involves new software and training at work.
