Allen & Overy will expand its office occupancy in the building, leasing a total of 40,914 square feet, continuing their presence on the 11th floor and expanding onto part of the 10th floor. The firm plans to begin renovations to its space in early 2023.
James Potocki, Director of Leasing at Oxford Properties, said, “1101 New York remains a destination of choice for employers looking to gain an edge in the battle for talent. We are proud to continue our partnership with the prestigious firm of Allen & Overy and deliver world-class amenities to its employees in a dynamic space that will maximize collaboration in a new, more modern era of work.”
“Since moving into 1101 New York in 2013, the building has supported the firm’s practice with a location convenient to important clients and space that is a destination for our attorneys and staff,” said Anthony Mansfield, the managing partner of Allen & Overy’s Washington office. “As Allen & Overy continues its U.S. growth trajectory, we are pleased that our D.C. office location will grow alongside us.”
The Savills tenant advisory team of Vice Chairs Tom Fulcher and Julie Rayfield and Managing Director Adam Brecher represented the international law firm. Stream Realty Partners Managing Director Matt Pacinelli, Executive Managing Director Kyle Luby, and Senior Vice President John Klinke represented Oxford Properties.
“Allen & Overy set out to reimagine its workspace to provide a more effective and modernized office for its workforce and clients,” said Fulcher, who serves as chair of Savills’ Legal Tenant Practice Group. “After reviewing the market, 1101 New York was determined to be the optimal opportunity for the firm as it can remain at its current location, expand across connected floors, and provide upgrades to the space to meet the requirements of its evolving and expanding practice.”
1101 New York stands adjacent to CityCenter, Washington DC’s premier mixed-use environment, offering award-winning outdoor spaces, restaurants, abundant high-end retail, and best-in-class residential. The building’s floor-to-ceiling glass windows provide abundant natural light and air while creating some of the best unobstructed panoramic views of the D.C. skyline. A rooftop terrace and on-site fitness center add to the forward-thinking, health-focused on-site experience.
