Farmer Brothers Makes It Official

August 17 < 1

Texas will wake up to the smell of fresh coffee soon, as a coffee roaster and distributor with more than 100 years of history has begun preparations for a move to the Lone Star State.

Farmer Bros. Co. announced that it has broken ground on a new facility in Northlake, Texas, which will serve as the company’s new headquarters, roasting facility, coffee lab and distribution center. The firm will be leaving behind its current facilities in Torrance, Calif.

The new headquarters has been designed to include a Safe Quality Food Level 3 certification, a silo storage system, a gentle-handling conveyor system and water-cooled grinders. The facility is also expected to receive LEED certification, given its implementation of LED lighting, water conservation devices and energy-saving HVAC systems, as well as its use of furniture made out of recycled materials.

“Moving to Texas and building this facility will help us continue to do what we’ve done for more than 100 years: provide our customers with great coffee, industry-leading innovation and exceptional service,” Mike Keown, Farmer Brothers’ CEO, said in a prepared statement.

The new base of operations, which is located near the intersection of E. Sam Lee and Ashmore Lane, will also have a planned teaching unit, from which the firm will be able to promote professional growth among its employees. The project will be developed by Stream Realty Partners.
