People are at the core of our success. In this series, we spotlight our talented professionals from all service lines, cities, and departments and showcase how their diversity, energy, expertise, and creativity exemplify our core values in and out of the office.

Work, work, work, work, work, work. If there’s one thing that consumes Gemma Davis’ life right now, it’s the title of the Rihanna anthem she proclaims as her theme song. Gemma was recently promoted to Senior Recruiter for our transaction teams across the nation.

She handles recruiting for analyst and associate positions across six of our 15 offices along with managing our summer analyst program and coordinating Stream’s university recruitment program.

“Life is super busy,” she says while multitasking. “We are hiring for at least two positions in every office.”

It’s really important to me to be able to explain the ‘why’ to younger team members, hear from them, and enable them to succeed.

But life won’t always be so chaotic in the office. Stream encourages a work-life balance so that when employees are in the office, they can apply their energy, expertise, and creativity to the needs of clients and colleagues. When she’s not working, Gemma enjoys reading historical non-fiction–preferably while sitting on the beach in Mexico–or brushing off her lifelong hobby of riding horses. Her getaway of choice is a ranch out west, but when she’s home in Atlanta, she wishes she had the superpower to fly so she doesn’t have to sit in traffic.

Here’s more about Gemma:

When she’s talking with recruits, she looks for:

Intellectual curiosity, motivation, self-confidence

Professional challenge for 2022:

One of Gemma’s focuses this year is to continue strengthening her relationships with the offices, especially with some of the analysts, associates, and interns. “It’s really important to me to be able to explain the ‘why’ to younger team members, hear from them, and enable them to succeed.” She maximizes her time on work trips by getting a lot of work done at the airport and while flying so she can use her time in the office to build relationships. “Those face-to-face conversations are irreplaceable.”

After a long day at work, Gemma’s favorite Atlanta spots to enjoy dinner are …

Forza Storico for great pasta, Tuk Tuk has the best Panang Chicken Curry in the city, or Nuevo Laredo for Tex-Mex and margaritas.

A proud moment that proves her character

I was a rowing team walk-on at Clemson. Senior year I had the opportunity to step up as a leader on a team of 50 women and earned a spot in an ACC eligible boat. That year my boat placed third place at the ACC Championships. That tangibly provided that with determination and hard work, I can do difficult things that I set my mind to.

Gemma by the Numbers

ONE: Dog named Rosie that her and her boyfriend like to take on hikes, road trips, and beach walks
THREE: Members of her small but mighty recruiting team right now
FOUR: Siblings and half-siblings that live all across the Northeast

Her current workplace passion project

I’m working on educating myself on workplace diversity and inclusion initiatives so that I can help bring that to Stream along with the other Stream of Color committee members. We are committed to concisely building the organizations Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance in the coming few years.

What colleagues say about Gemma

Molly Robottom, Vice President of Recruiting, said, “Gemma is well respected and generous with her time while serving as a member of the Stream of Color committee.  She is committed to her work, holds a strong sense of responsibility, and demonstrates integrity on a daily basis.”
