Professional Experience
Karen Sweeney serves as Vice President of Property Management, leading Houston’s industrial and retail property management platforms. In her role, she provides direct supervisory oversight of teams managing more than 20 million square feet of assets, and she personally manages a portfolio of industrial buildings. Karen’s responsibilities include team leadership and development, implementation and administration of policies and programs that support best-in-class property management practices, reviewing property financial reports and operating budgets, on-boarding of new assets, developing strong client relationships, and assisting with analyzing potential new business. Through her guidance, the teams consistently deliver quality results to clients, leading to continued growth in the portfolio. Karen also serves on the Stream Support Foundation as a Board Member.
With almost 30 years of commercial real estate management experience, Karen is well versed in the operational and financial aspects of property management, fostering strong client relationships, and building high performing property management teams.
Karen began her career in commercial real estate at Weingarten Realty Investors in Houston where she held positions of increasing responsibility, serving as Senior Regional Property Manager prior to joining Stream. During her tenure, Karen was responsible for the operational and financial performance of large portfolios of retail shopping centers in numerous states, sourced and negotiated short term leases, was actively involved in the acquisitions and dispositions of properties, provided oversight for property management interns, assisted with establishing regional offices in two states and served on the implementation team for a new ERP system.
In her free time, Karen enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and relaxing in Florida’s panhandle.
