Meet the Hosts:
Mike Adams, Managing Director – Office Investor Services (Southern California)
1. Explain your role at Stream and how long you’ve been with the company.
I have been with Stream since 2009. I lead our office investor services team in our Southern California office which is headquartered in Orange County. My day-to-day encompasses an office leasing portfolio in Orange County that we lease for local and institutional owners and mid-market capital market sales in Orange County / Inland Empire.
2. What is the most valuable career advice you’ve been given?
I have been at Stream for 14 years. So, during the beginning part of my career, I got to experience going on presentations or having conversations with Mike McVean who gave me two pieces of advice I use to this day:
a. Ask for the business – a question we ALWAYS ask before we close out a presentation “is there anything that would keep you from working with Stream / our team?” To make sure to get their objections and answer them accordingly.
b. Take credit for what you are doing – tell clients you are going to do something, go and do it, and then tell them you have done it. Get credit three times for one action.
3. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy golfing and investing in real estate. I own some apartments in Alabama that keep me busy. A goal of mine is to continue to grow that portfolio.
Chris Doggett, Executive Vice President (Fort Worth)
1. What is your favorite thing about commercial real estate?
The deep friendships/relationships that I’ve built over the 26 years that I’ve been in the industry.
2. What motivates you day-to-day? Or who inspires you to achieve your goals?
My why is what motivates me and my why happens to be my incredible family. My wife, Karen, and our three kids – Taylor, Colton, and Lexi. My family is everything.
3. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Spending as much time with my family as possible. Also, traveling, fitness, sports, and writing.
Malik Leaphart, Senior Associate (Atlanta)
1. Explain your role at Stream and how long you’ve been with the company.
I’m a Senior Associate in Stream’s Atlanta office, where I focus on executing office lease transactions on behalf of landlords and tenants in the Atlanta region. I’ve been with Stream for four years.
2. What is your favorite thing about commercial real estate?
Connecting with people and creating memorable relationships has truly allowed me to enhance the way I work. From utilizing my background in architectural design, to cultivating lease transactions on behalf of landlords and tenants with one of the most tenacious office divisions in the city, each opportunity allows me to challenge myself to provide solutions for our clients.
Kathryn Wahl, Vice President, Marketing – Investment Management (Dallas-Fort Worth)
1. Explain your role at Stream and how long you’ve been with the company.
I’ve been with Stream for three years and handle all the marketing for our Investment Management team. Part of the job is getting the opportunity to work with our local markets to build out marketing strategies for our developments, and another part is marketing to our current partners and potential investors that are in each of our funds.
2. What is the most valuable career advice you’ve been given?
Always add value to the people around you. They will remember how you’ve helped them and will think of you whenever opportunities may arise.
3. Have you checked something off your Bucket List? If so, what was it? If not, what would you want to check off first?
Owning a home and marrying an amazing man both on my bucket list, and both happened this past year!
